Submitted Leadership Assessment Quiz Answers

  1. a) To get where they are they have had to accommodate those that had power over their future and somewhere along the way they lost their unique perspective. b) Because they are not of the "group" but the leader, they have cut off contact with the group to the point where the free flow of ideas from everyone that experiences the operations on a daily basis do not feel at liberty of sharing for fear of "policical retribution"
  2. Due to their monopoly and aggresive nature, they try to turn around the world but they themselves lose the ground.
  3. Society leads us to focus on ourselves and not on our impact on the world. As we look inward, the outside world will judge us with "uncommon sense" that may appear common.
  4. Most leaders do not like making decisions alone.
  5. Poor leaders lose focus on the basics, the fundementals on what it takes to be great and to lead. Admirable leaders have clear direction and the strength to stay the course.
  6. Most people are too busy trying to do it the "right" way, i.e. please other people. The common sense approach often times appears too simple, or is politically uncorrect.
  7. Because leaders speak the title "leader" and immediately make a finding that they can not benefit from those they lead. Today's leaders are dictators who often secure their position by not being open to any ideas but their own.
  8. In my opinion common sense is common among the great leaders. Maybe that is one of the characteristics that sets apart a great leader from just a leader.
  9. They are completely out of touch with reality. In many instances they are money driven and not people needs driven.
  10. In the beginning..... Once, common sense was considered normal, if not an essential tool to survive, for a leader, or follower, or an individual. Now, it [common sense] has lost its value... not needed to survive or improve; help determine right from wrong; or best from worse. In fact, it is now probably looked upon as a hindrance. Something that gets in the way of ‘progress’. In today’s complicated world, it is seldom that the wisdom [true leadership in its rawest form] of individuals can alone break the mold of answers that fit the condition rather than leadership that provides direction. Sadly, it is the lack of wisdom [common sense] that provides the catchphrase, “gather consensus, it will protect us against responsibility for our actions”. So, in my opinion, there is one common sense proclamation that so perfectly provides an answer to this month’s stirring question, why is common sense so uncommon among leaders? “use it, or lose it”
  11. "The Bottom Line Profit" devoid of a personal interest in employees or keeping them. New employees are less expensive.
  12. Because they do not live in reality.
  13. Very Simple...a no brainer...It's all about the bottom line. It makes leaders tell you it's your fault that a 14 year old piece of equipment that should have been replaced at 5 years isn't working and your performance eval will reflect that you were unable to keep it going. It makes leaders ignore Black mold and tell everyone that it is safe to go to work even though the problem was never addressed because it would cost too much to address. I could write 20 pages but I think you get the idea. Play ball with the big boys and you might climb up the ladder...emphasis on might. If you speak out, any career you thought you might have with the company is gone. I dropped out. My conscience couldn't take it. I walked away and I never looked back and I'm not sorry I did. I was never privy to documentation that could prove anything. I know deep down inside of me that someday it will all catch up with the company. I just couldn't stomach watching it anymore.
  14. Too anal.
  15. Because they do not have real world experience.
