Thomas H. Coffey, or Tom as he is known by his friends, is a thirty- three year veteran of the life insurance industry. He has spent most of his career in leadership roles building people and agencies to award- winning status. He holds a BA degree from Eastern Kentucky University in English and Political Science and serves on its Foundation Board’s Executive Committee. He also completed studies at Yale University in Spanish and Latin American Studies. He holds two professional degrees; Chartered Life Underwriter and Chartered Leadership Fellow, from the American College. Tom and his wife, Rebecca, have endowed a Professorship in Insurance Studies at Eastern Kentucky University in the College of Business and Technology. He is also a former President of the University’s National Alumni Association. He has authored articles of interest to the financial business industry and has taught classes as a visiting professor.
Tom is a combat veteran of Vietnam where he earned a Bronze Star and Army Commendation Metal. He left the military a Captain in 1970 and joined Ross Perot’s Electronic Data System where he served as a recruiter and Eastern Regional Recruiting Manager until 1974 when he entered the life insurance industry. He is presently the Southeastern Regional Director for Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company in Atlanta. He believes that life is not a spectator sport and must be played hard every day in order to give to and serve others. He and Rebecca have four grown children and four grandchildren.
