Haircuts & Leadership
I recently had lunch with Gordon Logan, Founder and Chairman of Sport Clips – www.sportclips.com - the fastest growing hair cutting franchise in the country. I asked Gordon the keys to his organization’s phenomenal success and growth. His answer, “Byrd it’s all about three things: Our Mission Statement, The Heart of a Champion, and Three Key Questions.”
Curious, I asked him to share more about these three areas. Following is a further explanation of Sport Clips’ keys to success…
Mission Statement
“To create a Championship Haircut Experience for men and boys in an
exciting sports environment.”
A Championship Haircut Experience is the highest quality experience available and allows us to meet and exceed our Clients’ expectations. Following our Mission Statement demands that each of us has the Heart of a Champion.
Heart of a Champion
1.Do what’s right. Always do the right thing. Nothing is worth breaking this rule.
2.Do your best. No matter what we are working towards, we can never achieve our goals and dreams without giving it our absolute best every day.
3.Treat other people the way you want to be treated. Always think how your actions may affect others, and if it would make you feel good. Doing what’s right will usually result in you treating others as you would like to be treated.
Three Key Questions
1.Can I trust you?
2.Are you committed to excellence?
3.Do you care about me?
Trust, excellence, and compassion - so simple yet so effective. What can you learn and apply from the Sport Clips Philosophy?
And remember, it’s all about the relationship.
PS – Sport Clips’ Heart of a Champion Values and Three Key Questions were borrowed, with permission, from legendary football coach Lou Holtz.
